The short answer: start with the surface you need to protect

I will be direct: pizza scissors are only worthwhile if they work better than a good knife or wheel in the way you serve pizza. Almost any tool will cut a thin pizza on a large board. With a thick, heavily topped pizza, or one still in a tray, scissors can avoid dragging cheese from one slice to the next.

For cutting on a non-stick surface or a stone, the Dreamfarm Scizza is the best-documented model because of its nylon shoe. If you want detachable stainless-steel blades that keep your hands above the pizza, the Triangle is simpler. The GEFU Pezzo adds a serving paddle. The Fackelmann meets a smaller budget, with less detailed documentation.

Transparency. This guide is a documentary analysis. Four à Nu has not subjected these scissors to a comparative test. The Amazon.fr links are affiliate links: Four à Nu may receive a commission on an eligible purchase after a click, at no extra cost to you. This does not change either the selection or the limitations of this guide. Four answers, not four steps on a podium

ModelWhen we would consider itMain limitation
Dreamfarm Scizza DFSC2010Cutting on a stone or non-stick dish with a protective shoeLong and bulky; the nylon shoe is limited to 205°C
Triangle 50491Cutting right to the edge of a tray while keeping your hands raisedNo built-in serving paddle
GEFU Pezzo 12641Cutting and then lifting the slice with the same toolLess technical documentation than the other models
Fackelmann 25 cmBuying a simple tool without looking for a particular featureA less complete specification and no stated heat resistance

A big table changes the question. I am not only looking for one clean first cut: I want the eighth slice still to look like a slice, the topping to remain on it, and the tool not to become a chore to clean once everyone is seated.

Dreamfarm Scizza: the clearest documentation for a protective shoe

The Scizza manufacturer page lists 15 cm 420J2 stainless-steel blades and a nylon shoe beneath the lower blade. The shoe slides under the pizza so that the steel does not rub against a non-stick coating or stone. Dreamfarm states a heat resistance of 205°C for this part.

According to the current page, the product is 32 cm long, 7.2 cm wide and weighs 200 g. Its blades separate for sharpening, and the full tool is described as dishwasher-safe. With the slice held between the closed blades, it can also be moved.

This is the most complete model on paper, but also the longest in this selection. The 205°C rating does not allow it to enter the oven or sit on a scorching tray. The pizza must be removed, placed on a stable surface and ready to serve. The nylon shoe protects the surface; it does not replace care around a blade and hot food.

Triangle 50491: raised handles and detachable blades

The official Triangle scissors page describes its pizza model as a stainless-steel tool for cutting pizza or tray bakes right to the edge. The handles are set high to keep hands away from the food. The two blades separate for cleaning and are dishwasher-safe.

Amazon identifies reference 50491 and gives a length of 24 cm. This design looks particularly coherent for Roman pizza baked in a shallow tray: the hand stays above while the lower blade follows the surface. Triangle also claims that cutting limits the movement of toppings. Without a common test, we keep that as manufacturer data, not a Four à Nu result.

There is no built-in server. That is not necessarily a drawback: at a large table, I sometimes prefer to cut all the slices with one tool, then serve them with a properly wide peel instead of trying to perform both movements with the same hand.

GEFU Pezzo 12641: cut and serve with the same utensil

The GEFU Pezzo combines the scissors with a small paddle beneath the blade. The manufacturer lists dimensions of 27.2 × 8.2 × 1.6 cm, a weight of 186 g, a Soft Touch handle, stainless steel and plastic. The two parts separate, the tool is dishwasher-safe, and the brand publishes a five-year guarantee.

Its benefit is very practical when you serve only a few slices at a time: cut, close the scissors around the slice and lift it. The paddle remains narrow. A heavily topped or soft slice may require broader support, especially if it has to travel across the table.

The Amazon.fr listing was matched to the exact reference during our check. The seller and contents of the offer may change, so read them again when buying and do not treat them as a quality of the product itself.

Fackelmann 25 cm: the simple, less documented option

Fackelmann keeps black 25 cm pizza scissors in its range. The sources assembled here confirm the size and availability for sale, but do not provide the same level of detail as Dreamfarm, Triangle or GEFU about materials, disassembly, weight or heat resistance.

I would keep it as a budget option for pizza that is already out of the oven and on a stable surface. I would not assign it the qualities of the other three by analogy. In particular, nothing in the sources assembled here supports a promise of easy sharpening, crevice-free cleaning or an equivalent lifespan.

Thin, Roman or Detroit-style pizza: format changes the movement

For thin pizza on a board

The main issue is cutting length. Long blades cross more of the pizza without requiring a series of small snips. A wheel remains very effective on a clear board; the main advantage of scissors is that they do not press down on the topping.

For Roman pizza in a tray

The Triangle’s raised handles make sense around the shallow edge of a tray. A nylon shoe may protect a coating, but you must still check that neither the tip nor the joint rubs against the surface.

For Detroit-style pizza in a deep pan

The real obstacle is the rim of the pan. No pair of scissors cuts cleanly through a metal wall. For a tall, crisp Detroit-style pizza, I would first remove it from the pan with appropriate care, then cut it on a board. This frees the angle of the scissors and avoids scratching the pan while trying to reach the corners.

For a heavily topped pizza

A vertical cut may push the cheese less than a blunt wheel. But the slice is still heavy once cut. The small support on a Scizza or Pezzo may be enough for a firm slice; a very soft pizza deserves a separate serving peel.

Cleaning matters almost as much as cutting

Melted cheese, sauce and flour all find their way into a scissor joint. Three models in this selection document disassembly: Dreamfarm, Triangle and GEFU. That makes it possible to reach the mating surfaces, provided you follow the instructions and handle the separate blades carefully.

A few simple rules keep a practical gadget from becoming something you stop using:

  • cut only when the pizza is stable and out of the oven;
  • keep children away during cutting and disassembly;
  • remove residue before it dries in the joint;
  • dry the blades before reassembling or storing them;
  • follow the product page for dishwasher instructions rather than applying one brand’s guidance to another.

What I would choose for a full table

I would choose the Dreamfarm Scizza if protecting the surface and having a tool documented down to its heat limit were the priorities. I would take the Triangle for Roman pizza in a tray and straightforward cleaning with detachable blades. I like the GEFU for serving a few slices without reaching for a peel, but I would check its exact listing and total cost when ordering.

The Fackelmann remains an inexpensive entry point with more documentary uncertainty. None of these choices becomes a ranking: the sources do not compare cutting effort, edge retention or durability under one protocol.
