Choosing an oven

Choose a pizza oven by use, not by league table.

Four constraints remove more poor fits than a general ranking: where the oven can operate, how much attention the fuel demands, how fast pizzas must follow one another and what the complete setup costs.

Local housing, connection and manufacturer safety rules take priority over any fuel preference.

01

1. Location

Indoor, balcony, terrace and garden use do not allow the same equipment. Check ventilation, electricity, gas rules and storage first.

02

2. Energy

Gas simplifies repeatable outdoor baking, electric models suit compatible indoor use, and multi-fuel ovens trade convenience for fire management.

03

3. Pace and format

Chamber size, opening and stone recovery matter more when serving several people than when baking one pizza.

04

4. Complete budget

Count the stand, cover, peel, regulator or cable, fuel and storage—not only the oven’s ticket price.
