Our decision: yes for a fixed station, not to simplify every movement

The original Witt ETNA Rotante makes sense if you want to bake large pizzas outdoors and leave the oven on a dedicated table. Its stated capacity for pizzas up to 40.5 cm, motorised rotation and burner beneath the stone address a practical problem: reducing handling while maintaining heat under the pizza.

We would not choose it for storage after every service, or on the assumption that the motor makes baking automatic. Sources describe a heavy appliance that still requires you to centre the pizza, watch its colour and reduce the flame at the right moment. The purchase therefore makes sense for a stable outdoor station and regular use, not as a shortcut to unattended baking.

Check that it is the original ETNA Rotante

This guide concerns the original-generation black Witt ETNA Rotante 16, launched in 2022, and the Amazon.fr offer attached to ASIN B0C4PY8QBV during the check on 31 August 2026. It does not cover newer models whose names contain Control.

Witt’s launch announcement describes the combination specific to this generation: a U-shaped main burner, a rotating motorised stone and a second burner beneath it. Before ordering, match these features with the black colour, exact name and ASIN. Visual similarity or the word “Rotante” alone is not enough to attach the observations below to another generation.

Its weight determines the installation

The Witt manual states dimensions of 750 × 650 × 440 mm for the Rotante, with a net weight of 26.8 kg and packed weight of 33.6 kg. The official product page rounds this to 76 × 66 × 44 cm and 33 kg. Tech Advisor publishes 43.6 × 66.3 × 76.1 cm and 26.8 kg: once the axes are reordered, these dimensions converge within rounding, but the source documents neither weighing nor measurement. T3 publishes a width of 63.3 cm and a weight of 40 kg, also without a protocol.

We do not average these values and retain the manual as a manufacturer claim, not an independent measurement. Tech Advisor and T3 do agree that the oven takes two people to move. Prepare a stable table, space in front of the opening for the peel, a safe route for the hose and the clearances imposed by the manual.

Rotation reduces neither the oven’s width nor the space needed to launch a 40 cm pizza. If the table has another purpose between pizza nights, or the oven must be brought inside every time, that footprint can cancel out the motor’s convenience. A permanent installation beneath suitable protection is the most coherent use case, without that protection authorising use in an enclosed area.

Rotation helps; the burner beneath the stone completes the system

Witt presents rotation as a way to expose each part of the crust to the U-shaped burner in turn. The manual states 2.5 revolutions per minute. Tech Advisor notes that placement near the centre is still necessary. At this speed the system avoids taking the pizza out to turn it by hand, provided it was positioned correctly.

The second burner addresses a different need: feeding heat beneath the stone while the main burner colours the top and crust. This pairing can reduce some of the work, but it also adds a motor, rotation control and second burner to watch. You still need to look at the pizza. Pizzamand acknowledges the benefit of a more even floor while preferring to move the pizza manually according to the hot zones. That is a usage preference, not a measurement comparable to the other two sessions.

Fifteen or thirty minutes: two conditions, not an average

In its session, Tech Advisor reports roughly fifteen minutes of preheating and two minutes for most pizzas. The source does not publish a sufficiently complete weather and temperature record to turn those times into a guarantee.

T3 tests the oven outdoors at around 7 °C and waits almost thirty minutes before baking. The open oven and cold weather make this a different session. These two third-party timings under incomplete conditions frame possible uses, but adding or averaging them would hide the weather, measurement point and actual target temperature. Allow a margin and check the stone with an infrared thermometer.

The motor does not replace flame control

Tech Advisor reports its best balance after heating at full power and then reducing the U-shaped burner. T3 describes the same direction by contrast: the first pizza colours too strongly at the edge with a full flame, while the second seems better balanced after the flame is lowered.

These sessions do not establish a universal setting. They instead reveal the movement that still has to be learned despite rotation: charge the stone, launch in the centre, observe the top and lower the flame before the most exposed edge burns. The stone turns the pizza; it chooses neither the right moment, the right power nor the duration for your dough.

Commercial relationships matter in this reading. Tech Advisor uses paid links and does not disclose how it obtained the unit. T3 declares affiliate links and says it received the orange version for review, without identifying the supplier or terms. The observations remain useful because their conditions and limits are retained, not because they are treated as Four à Nu experience.

Before ordering in France

The European Witt manual lists France for the two-burner Rotante under category I3+(28–30/37), with butane at 28–30 mbar or propane at 37 mbar, for outdoor use only. This family documentation does not guarantee what every third-party seller includes in the box.

Before keeping the purchase, check four points:

  • the name ETNA Rotante without the Control suffix and ASIN B0C4PY8QBV;
  • the rating plate and gas category printed on the appliance;
  • the gas, regulator and hose actually supplied for France;
  • a table and clearances that comply with the manual for outdoor use.

Finally, add the cost of a suitable peel, an infrared thermometer and protection or storage. The observed Amazon offer is a dated snapshot: seller, contents and availability can change. If the reference or connection remains ambiguous on delivery, rotation does not offset that risk; suspend installation and have the delivered version confirmed.
