The verdict in thirty seconds

The Koda 12 is the small, straightforward gas Ooni. It takes a 30 cm pizza, weighs 9.2 kg and does not require you to manage a wood fire. For two people, a small family or a few pizzas from time to time, that simplicity may be enough.

Its size also creates the main compromise. A 30 cm pizza leaves little room for the peel and turning. For a large gathering, we would first look at the Koda 16 or the Koda 2.

What the figures change at home

The manufacturer states a 30 cm capacity, a 10 mm stone and a weight of 9.2 kg. The oven can therefore be carried by one person and is easier to store than the larger Koda models. It still needs a stable, non-combustible table deep enough to ensure the gas hose is never pinched.

The connection depends on the regional version. Before ordering, check the supplied regulator and the cylinder you will use in France.

The margin matters most when launching. We would aim for pizzas around 28 cm rather than use every available millimetre. They will be easier to turn, with less risk of pushing the topping towards the flame.

The speed claims remain claims

Ooni states 500°C in 15 minutes and a pizza in 60 seconds. These figures describe the capacity targeted by the manufacturer. They do not guarantee the pace of your first evening.

The outside temperature, wind, the point where the stone is measured and the dough can all change the result. To repeat that last reference point, an infrared thermometer is more useful than an air display. The available sources contain no third-party measurement attached to this model.

It mainly suits you if the small format is deliberate

The Koda 12 makes sense for a first outdoor setup, a couple or a small family willing to bake pizzas one at a time. It also suits a home where the oven needs to be stored after every use.

We would rule it out for large pizzas, a wide pan or many guests with little patience. In those cases, its lower price may become a false economy. Count the batches and movements imposed by the opening, not just the purchase price.

Before ordering

  • Measure the depth of the table and the clearances around the oven.
  • Check the cylinder type, regulator and hose supplied for France.
  • Choose a peel whose diameter remains smaller than the usable opening.
  • Allow room to store the cylinder and cover.
  • Estimate how many pizzas you make on a normal evening at home.

What this guide lets us conclude

The Koda 12 looks coherent if you are primarily looking for a simple, lightweight gas oven. Without third-party measurements, we do not state a realistic heating time, consumption figure or pace over a series of pizzas. This recommendation is based on its format and weight, not on hands-on use by Four à Nu.
