Three questions are enough to begin

Where will you bake? With which energy source? What size pizza do you genuinely want to launch? Those three answers already rule out much of the nine-oven Ooni range sold in France when we checked.

For indoors, the Volt 2 is the only current model presented as such by Ooni. Outdoors, gas leads to the Koda range. Wood or charcoal leads to Karu. Stated diameter, weight and whether you want to bake one or two pizzas at a time finish the sorting.

We would therefore start by removing what suits neither the location nor the available energy. Only then come size, weight and extra functions. There is no point paying for a very large oven if you never intend to run pizzas in succession.

If fuel remains your first uncertainty, the Ooni gas, electric or multi-fuel analysis isolates that choice. The Four à Nu method then explains how the sources are compared. This page does not try to name a “best Ooni”.

Public discussions show very practical questions: which model for six guests, gas or multi-fuel, and whether a Koda can be used on a balcony. They help identify the right criteria. They are neither a representative survey nor a safety source.

The range at a glance

The Ooni France collection, checked on 23 August 2026, presents nine standalone ovens: five Koda, three Karu and the Volt 2. The Karu 2 Pro bundle with a gas burner is a commercial package, not a tenth oven.

The diameters come from the manufacturer pages assembled in the sources below. A pizza stated as 30, 35, 40 or 45 cm does not say how much space remains for comfortable turning.

The Koda 2 Max is the only model in this inventory stated to bake two 30 cm pizzas at once. Its two gas zones are independent, but the oven weighs 43 kg. The Koda 2 Pro accepts a stated diameter of 45 cm and weighs 30 kg. These figures describe capacity and footprint. They do not guarantee that you can maintain the same pace all evening.

Which model should you examine for each constraint?

This table shortens the list. It presumes neither baking quality, consumption nor durability.

Wind can change the result

Third-party tests mainly show that conditions matter. On the Koda 2 Max, La French Pizza records a difficult rise on a very windy day (at 3 min 20 sec), then floor temperatures of 440°C on the left and 412°C on the right after about 25 minutes on a second day stated to have no wind (at 3 min 46 sec). The source says it bought the oven and uses affiliate links.

In another video, Julien Serri, an Ooni ambassador using affiliate links and a promotional code, displays 400°C after 23 min 40 sec on the same model (at 10 min 46 sec). The dough, user and environment are not standardised. These readings should not be averaged or turned into a reference heating time.

Questions to settle before purchase

  • the actual space required around each oven and local safety rules, especially on a balcony;
  • handling margin around a pizza at the stated maximum diameter;
  • the ability to bake several identically prepared pizzas in succession;
  • gas, wood or electricity consumption under comparable conditions;
  • full cost with table, peel, infrared thermometer, cover and any burner;
  • reliability and parts availability over several years.

What this guide cannot decide for you

Third-party measurements remain specific to their authors and sessions. They do not use one method across the full range. The inventory may also change as Ooni adds or removes a model.

Use this guide to move from nine ovens to two or three candidates. Before buying, recheck the range, dimensions and safety instructions for your chosen model.
